Yeah, what the hell is this? "Cooldowns reset after 2 hours of inactivity." What does that mean? Are . . . we not expected to do all of our quests or something?

I think it's been put on hold? Yesterday some of us had to wait 5 minutes! between restocks while questing. Hopefully it's been removed for good, because that was a mess!

I think this has been fixed! I am currently up to 35 purchases now and no delay :) yesterday I only had a few purchases and the time limit kept going up by a whole minute, like one purchase, wait 1 minute, purchase, wait 2 minutes, etc until I got to 5, then exclusively bought from user shops to finish my quests lol, today is so much faster/no delay at all yet!

I think it could use some tweaking and rebalancing. Currently it feels a little like it's punishing players for... playing more Subeta?

is there a place where we can see the current cool down we are stuck in? I know I must have one, but nothing pops up for me.

I don't mind the cooldown in concept, but can that big block of text be moved somewhere out of the way? At least until there's actually a delay triggered. Kumos already requires so much scrolling and that extra text box is making questing rather tedious.

Looking to buy this!

Oh, wow. I thought the cooldown was removed. I don't believe it should exceed the existing 5 second rule. That's been fine for years. The only thing I like about Kumos shops is the lack of five second rule, but it seems that is no longer a feature if you're restocking a bit. There's basically a built-in five second rule due to lag anyway. When I click to buy an item on Kumos, it takes about five seconds to actually process the purchase.

we believe this is to be intended? though, reading prior posts it seems as though there was a time where perhaps an experiment was happening? had no issues yesterday, questing from reset, had no issues with any sort of delay being imposed, for now this will be our opinion on the current status.

may be wrong but the design is to stop shops being cleared our by a single user, and allow a fair playing field for everyone. maybe a staff member could respond to clarify, but this seems as though its the anti hoarding measure that keith mentioned, perhaps? item hoarding has been an issue on the main site for a very long time, to the point where staff asked players to report on items that overstocked in a single shop. they seem to be encouraging questing and other site interactions as a means to make sP rather than item hoarding.

for context, this is at the end of questing, having used a mix of legacy and kumos shops.

Purchase Cooldown Active You've made 18 purchases in this session. Your next purchase will have a 2 second wait. Current delay: No delay | Cooldowns reset after 2 hours of inactivity

so, 200+ in a less than 2 hour period and only /then/ being hit with a delay seems entirely fine, most users are not even going to encounter this. less of a dissuasion of play and more of a speedbump. also find that legacy shops, especially for pete quests, are more lucrative than what is on kumos. overall seems as though the feature is working as intended, can still remember what it was like a few weeks back when quest item pools were broken and it was impossible to even complete quests.

kumos still has a lot of growing to do, but in this aspect it seems as though its on the right track. would rather not go back to hyperinflated items and unbuyable quests.

I'd also contest the current state of main-site economy was "fine". Of all the issues that Kumos aims to address, the in-game site economy is evidently high on the list. It's an issue that comes up in site feedback very often, and the move to a new site platform is likely the best (and possibly only) chance to give the economy something of a reset. As a longtime user I've seen how out of hand the inflation has gotten (when I joined, 1mil sp was considered "a lot", now its pocket change.)

The 5 second rule is very explicitly in place to "give everyone else a chance" when it comes to restocking. Given that we currently have something of an issue with item hoarding - something has specifically called out as a targeted issue for Kumos - the 5 second rule clearly is not working as intended. Not only that, it makes general item buying and questing for the vast majority of users clunky and slow, effectively punishing everybody for the crimes of a few.

This new delay limit on Kumos by contrast seems much more reasonable. After all, it's not as though it's outright preventing purchases - just slowing them down at what I believe is a very reasonable rate. Calling it a "speedbump" is a very good analogy - for the vast majority of users it has only increased the overall flow and efficiency of questing since buying NPC shop items is now much smoother. Doing quests and general purchases usually won't exceed more than a few dozen items.

It's also worth mentioning that Kumos is in large part a place for experimentation, and it will take a bit of time before we see how this change affects the economy. We've all been warned that there will be teething issues for this new site (it is essentially a beta test, after all). Best policy for now is to stick with it and see how things go.

It was my understanding that the cooldown was put in place because people complained that someone appears to be using an autobuyer in (legacy) Spells Galore. Now we have a limit on Kumos where the problem isn't happening and we've still got a potential cheater in legacy Spells Galore.

I didn't realize hoarding worthless items was an issue, as most items that restock in the main shops are not worth much. There is already a limit on Kumos of buying only one per rare per day, so that seems sufficient in kneecapping the hoarding of main shop items that have some worth. We will have to wait to see how it all shakes out..

## 🧠 Smart Market-Responsive Features

The quest system now actively uses market intelligence to help balance the economy:

Prioritizes overstocked items - Quests will prefer items with high NPC shop stock levels

Anti-hoarding mechanism - 🤫

Rewards competitive pricing - Items from active, fairly-priced user shops get selection boosts

Dynamic selection - The system adapts based on current market conditions

To refresh us all on the back end changes on Kumos, it doesn't say anything about rares! We are definitely against any autobuying situation or skewing of high rarity items by means that are detrimental to the market stability, but that wasnt what our whole point was about. And again, we prefaced our statement with an uncertainty that this is indeed the anti hoarding measure that Keith is being secretive about. Our point stands though that a 2-5 second wait (can't refer back to what was shown as the post has since been edited) from buying 200+ items in a span of under 2 hours doesnt seem unfair or punishing, as mathing that out would mean that items are being bought in a short amount of time (~30 seconds per item). The Wizard has some standard items that he often asks for and since his pool hasn't been expanded like Saggitarius' there are some items that we now rarely see being restocked in either kumos or legacy shops. Do hope that we are making sense with all of this.

As you said though, we need to see how this all pans out, kumos certainly has its quirks if anyone has been following since the questing/shop beta began can attest to.

Anyone know if inactivity means completely from the site or just not restocking anything? It's definitely been more than 2 hours since I've bought anything, but I still have the delay, so I don't know.

Hey everyone, as you've probably noticed this was not intended. There are a number of anti-cheating measures built into the shops on Kumos, and one of them got configured by me a little too heavy handed, which resulted in many hour long bans for trying to complete quests.

It was meant to take quests into account, time on the site, and a couple of other factors (e.g. someone who is buying an item after being marked online for 16 hours is suspicious) and was just too heavy handed. It's been dialed down.

I waited 2 hours between restocks and I'm still hit with:

"Purchase Cooldown Active You've made 276 purchases in this session. Your next purchase will have a 10 second wait.

Current delay: 5 seconds | Cooldowns reset after 2 hours of inactivity"

Does that mean 2 hours of inactivity on the entire site?! That's excessive. All I did was go Fishing in that time. I thought the cooldown was 2 hours of inactivity restocking in the shops. This appears to be 2 hours of inactivity on the entire website. I did my quests and bought a bunch of junk items to test this out, which didn't take very long to hit 200 purchases.

Yeah, what brokensafety said - are we being punished for playing on Kumos, after having bought the first 200 items? You really don't want us on the site at all for at least 2 hours?

I ran into the same issue as yesterday. Bought ~200 items an hour or two before midnight Subeta time, then did a lot of battling/using the main site (might have opened Kumos a couple of times but didn't make any purchases AFAIR), then did my Kumos quests with a cooldown active a couple of hours after midnight. Which... may have actually reset partway through my questing? I was confused.
